Furniture
As the economy continues to be of major concern on the minds of so many families, purchasing furniture for the home seems to be less important. People that would have purchased high quality, brand new furniture in the past might be looking at used furniture stores and/or yard sales these days. Please do not get disheartened. You may actually be doing yourself a real favor!
Furniture of yesteryear was often very well made from great quality woods that last year after year. Dovetailed construction using hardwoods like mahogany, cherry and oak resulted in beautiful furniture that can still outlast the cheaply made “pressboard” type furniture made in China and other parts of the world today. Purchasing great looking quality made furniture made of these hardwoods can be done at less than half the price of modern furniture if you search diligently. Once the “new” has worn off of the modern furniture, that same “used furniture” can often maintain its looks and functionality long after the new giving you the opportunity to brag about the great purchase you have made.
